ONTEORA CLASS OF 1960 This website is for the Onteora Central School Class of 1960. For those who may be curious, Onteora Central School is located in Boiceville, NY, which is in Ulster County in the middle of the beautiful Catskill Mountains. CLASS NEWS Class gift presented to Onteora On October 11, 2010, Reunion Committee members met with Dr. Katie O’Brien, Assistant Superintendent of Schools, at Onteora, to complete the project of gifting the school with a lovely blue spruce tree. The spot for the tree is in the middle of a grassy area near the tennis courts. It is easily visible to groups of students entering and exiting the school.  Next to the tree is a plaque (mounted securely in a block of cement to assure longevity) which says “Dedicated to our wonderful teachers on the occasion of our 50-year reunion – Class of 1960.”  Please stop by to view it when/if you are in the area.   The tree and plaque were funded by some unused monies that were collected for reunion expenses and additional donations for this purpose from 5 of our class members. The wording on the plaque is a continuation of the emphasis on honoring our teachers that was an important part of the reunion weekend. On the Photos page you will find a link to view photos from the tree presentation day. Our 50 Year Reunion has happened Our 50th reunion took place over the summer of 2010. It was a great weekend with a fine time had by all. Detailed information about reunion attendance and the awards that were presented, as well as a poem that classmate Peter Heller wrote for the reunion, can be found on the Reunion Info page of the website. There are many reunion weekend photos that you can see by going to the Photos page and then clicking on the links that are provided. . What happens next? We will continue to maintain this reunion website. We really want more photos from our one or two-room schoolhouse days to add to that section of the Photos page. By now those are historical treasures. Some of you must have one or more of those. Please look around and send a copy to Roger Schreiner.  If you have any other pictures to contribute (family, school, reunion events, etc.), please forward them to Roger, who will post them. In addition, please let Jane or Roger know of any changes in the status (addresses, emails, health, etc.) of classmates and we will continue to collect that information for our next reunion, expected in 2015 (or earlier).
